4-5:01:Mission AI Explorers
About Course
Week 1 of the grades 4–5 curriculum. Learners begin their journey as AI Explorers by tackling the big question – what is AI? Through stories, animations and interactive challenges they discover how AI works as the “brain” of machines, and how it’s both similar to and different from their own.
Grades 4–5 learners are ready for the “why” behind AI. This week sets the foundation for the whole module by introducing how AI processes data, how it learns and what makes it “smart”, with plenty of real-world examples to compare against their own thinking.
What your child will do
• Read and discuss a comic strip showing how AI brains and human brains differ
• “What do you notice about how AI ‘thinks’? How is it like or unlike your brain?”
• Think of the technologies they interact with every day – phones, apps, games
• AI Brain Quiz to check the key points
By the end, your child can
• How AI processes data, how it learns and what makes it “smart”
• Real examples of AI in everyday life
• The foundation for everything in Module 1
Learning focus (Fink’s Taxonomy of Significant Learning): Foundational Knowledge · Human Dimension.
