About Course

Module 2 opens the black box: how does AI actually learn? The answer is data – and lots of it. Grades 4–5 “teach” an AI friend, play a data-collection game, and find out who trains AI in the real world.

“AI learns from data” is the single most important idea in the curriculum, and this is where it lands. Once learners see that every AI answer comes from examples people provided, bias, fairness and accuracy all make sense.

What your child will do
• Roleplay: teach a “robot” to recognise fruit by showing it many examples – that’s data
• Data Collection Game: gather characteristics of toys, leaves or shapes and sort them into categories
• Human Role – Who Trains AI? Data is the “food” that helps AI learn, and people provide it
• Journal: “Why is data important for AI to learn?”, then the Closing Scene

By the end, your child can
• AI learns from examples, not instructions
• Data comes from people – and so do its mistakes
• Why more and better examples produce better AI

Learning focus (Fink’s Taxonomy of Significant Learning): Foundational Knowledge · Human Dimension.

Interactive video lesson with a game. Part of Grades 4–5: Mission: AI Explorers, Module 2 – How Does AI Learn? – Feeding the Machine Mind, Week 1. Next lesson: AI Training Games – Simulating How Machines Learn.
