About Course

A group game about a serious problem. Teams receive a biased dataset, find where the unfairness crept in, fix it, and present their case to the class.

Bias stops being abstract when your own team has to find it in a real dataset and fix it under time pressure. The presentation step teaches students to explain a technical problem to a non-technical audience.

What students do
• Let’s Get Real: how model bias affects individuals and groups
• “Fix the Bias” – a group game of bias scenarios: find where the unfairness came from and fix it
• Present Your Case: short presentations on data quality and ethics, with true/false
• Reflection Time: “How can bias in AI affect people’s lives?”

By the end, students can
• Where bias comes from
• Data quality as an ethical issue, not just a technical one
• Presentation and teamwork skills

Learning focus (Fink’s Taxonomy of Significant Learning): Human Dimension · Caring · Application.

Group activity; best with 3–5 students per team. Part of Grades 6–8: AI Agents in Action, Module 2 – How Machines Learn – Patterns, Data & Bias, Week 3. Next lesson: Ethical Implications and Final Assessment.
