About Course

From robot vacuums to delivery robots, grades 4–5 learn how AI turns instructions into motion – and discover how precise those instructions need to be.

Giving a robot instructions is a first taste of algorithmic thinking: be precise, be in order, handle what happens when something goes wrong. It sets up the coding and robotics work in the older grades.

What your child will do
• Videos of robot vacuums, factory arms and delivery robots – how do they know where to go?
• Giving Instructions: design a clear, step-by-step path for a “robot” (a classmate or a toy) to follow
• Where Do We See Moving Robots? – vehicles, drones, prosthetics – and how sensors help AI move safely
• Movement Challenge with true/false, Journal Time (“What one task would you program a robot to do?”) and Wrap-Up

By the end, your child can
• Step-by-step instructions (algorithms) for movement
• Sensors + decisions = motion
• Robots in the real world

Learning focus (Fink’s Taxonomy of Significant Learning): Foundational Knowledge · Integration.

Video, challenge and journal. Part of Grades 4–5: Mission: AI Explorers, Module 3 – What Can AI Do? – Smart Senses of Machines, Week 3. Next lesson: AI Senses in Action – Putting It All Together.
