About Course

Students begin as AI Agents with a question that shapes the whole course: where is AI already in my life? Far from futuristic, AI is here now – in voice assistants, recommendation systems, what we watch and how we learn.

Middle-school students are heavy users of AI-driven platforms and rarely realise it. This opening lesson makes the invisible visible, and sets the expectation for the course: students as agents who question, test and build, not just consumers.

What students do
• AI Scavenger Hunt: list the AI you interact with daily – voice assistants, recommendation algorithms, smart-home devices, face unlock
• Agree a simple, relatable definition of AI and brainstorm where it shows up
• Start the “My Day with 10 AIs” journal: log 2–3 AI interactions a day, aiming for 10 by week’s end
• Reflection: “What surprised you most about how much AI is already in your life?”

By the end, students can
• Recognise the AI systems around them
• See AI as present, not future
• Adopt the “agent” mindset for the course

Learning focus (Fink’s Taxonomy of Significant Learning): Foundational Knowledge · Application.

Video and discussion-based lesson; about 40 minutes. Part of Grades 6–8: AI Agents in Action, Module 1 – AI Agents in Action – What is AI and Why Should I Care?, Week 1. Next lesson: My Day, My AI – Personal Routines and Early Insights.
