About Course
Module 3 explores AI’s senses, starting with vision. From a QuickDraw challenge to real-world uses in medicine and cars, students learn how AI turns pixels into meaning – and where it still gets fooled.
The QuickDraw challenge shows students an AI recognising their own sketches in real time, which makes the explanation of how image recognition works land immediately. The lesson also covers the failure modes that matter for safety.
What students do
• AI Senses the World – Vision, Voice & Movement: the module in one view
• QuickDraw Challenge: draw, and watch an AI guess what you’re drawing in real time
• How AI “Sees” Images: the features an AI looks for, with an image-recognition challenge (animals, objects, facial expressions)
• Real-World Vision – face recognition, object detection in self-driving cars, medical imaging – and the AI Artist Imitation activity: describe an image the way a computer would
By the end, students can
• Image-recognition basics
• Applications in medicine, driving and phones
• Limits and errors of machine vision
Learning focus (Fink’s Taxonomy of Significant Learning): Foundational Knowledge · Application.
Video, live challenge and creative activity. Part of Grades 6–8: AI Agents in Action, Module 3 – AI Senses the World – Vision, Voice & Movement, Week 1. Next lesson: AI Hearing & Voice – Machines That Listen and Talk.
