About Course

Can robots feel? A gentle, thoughtful lesson for grades K–3 about emotions – ours, and the pretend ones machines can show. Children sort feelings, test their ideas and consider whether we could teach a robot to care.

Screen assistants that say “I’m happy to help” can confuse young children. This lesson gives them a clear, kind answer – machines can act friendly, but feelings belong to people – and builds emotional vocabulary along the way.

What your child will do
• Watch “Can Robots Feel?” and answer true/false
• Emotions Sorting Game: happy, sad, surprised, angry – can Chimpu feel this? Sort into Robot or Me
• Circle-time talk: “If Chimpu sees someone crying, what should he do?”
• Discuss empathy: “Can we teach robots to care?”

By the end, your child can
• Name emotions and recognise them in faces and voices
• Understand that robots can show but not truly feel emotions
• Think about kindness and care – for people and for machines

Learning focus (Fink’s Taxonomy of Significant Learning): Human Dimension · Caring · Integration.

Video, an interactive sorting game and discussion prompts for home or class. Part of Grades K–3: Adventures in AI Land, Module 3 – Can AI Think Like Me?, Week 3. Next lesson: Draw Our Brains & Reflect.
